Vocational and Adult Training Services
The Arc’s vocational programs assist over 275 individuals with employment training and job placement.

is located in a modern 25,000 square foot industrial building. Through the Center, individuals with developmental disabilities receive a wide array of services and supports geared toward preparing them to enter the competitive labor market. Included in these services are vocational evaluation and assessment, work adjustment training, job seeking skills training, job placement and follow along services, on going social supports and extended remunerative employment at the center until job placement in the community can be provided. Two hundred individuals participate in the program at any given time, earning wages based on productivity for real work. Work performed at the center includes Arc liquid soap filling and distribution operation, bench assembly and other fulfillment tasks performed for industries in the community.

Full-time day programming is provided for over 150 individuals at The Arc’s Adult Programs. Individuals with developmental disabilities learn skills in the areas of personal awareness, practical arts and work habilitation. Social and community activities are also important components of the Adult Training Program. The Centers operate successful packaging, assembly and craft design ventures which offer individuals real pay for real work. Transportation is provided.

Utilizing actual commercial and domestic settings, over 25 individuals are provided with on-the-job custodial experience. Small crews work with a supervisor at a variety of sites, and are paid for their work while benefiting from comprehensive skill training. Transportation is provided.

Individuals are provided with the opportunity to pursue and achieve competitive employment with the assistance of on-site job coaches. Participants are hired by local businesses as regular employees, either individually or in small groups. The Arc staff provides training, support and follow-up, and also arranges work incentive benefits for the employers.

The Arc’s retail store sells craft and screen printed items created by individuals in the Adult Training and Vocational Training Centers. Products include jewelry, wreaths, potpourri, picture frames, baskets, T-shirts, ornaments, home decorating, gift items and more.
