The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties recently hosted a seminar for families on "Navigating the New System, What Families Need to Know about Major Changes in the System that Serves People with Developmental Disabilities". On June 24th and July 1st a combined total of over 300 families attended one of two seminars presented by Tom Bafutto, Executive Director of the Arc of New Jersey and Linda Lewis Day from the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Topics included what it means to be on the Community Care Waiver, how individuals will be affected by the move to a waiting list for waiver services rather than the residential waiting list and the shift to self-directed services with an individual budget.
